Project Brief
Location: Marymount International School London
Sector: Education
Duration: 4 Days
Marymount International School faced persistent light control issues in their south-facing auditorium. Large windows combined with curved pillars allowed sunlight to leak in – especially around the edges – creating an unsuitable environment for stage performances. The existing blinds were frequently malfunctioning, offering no reliable solution.
Installing Theatre Blackout Electric Blinds was the solution.

Key Requirements
01
Site Analysis
Light seeped through gaps around curved pillars and between blinds. Standard blinds were unsuitable due to the building’s structure and window size.
02
Custom Engineering Solution
Boxing in the round pillars allowed for the use of closed cassette, zip-guided blinds to fully block light.
03
System Specification
Motorised zip-case roller blinds with limit-switch motors were recommended for their suitability to 5-metre widths and precise control.
The auditorium now has a durable, blackout-capable blind system with full lighting control and a sleek, integrated appearance.
05
Remote Operation
Blinds can be operated individually, in groups, or via presets using remote control for flexible lighting management.
04
Seamless Installation
Old blinds were removed, power points installed, pillars boxed in, and top-mounted cassettes with internal motors fitted for a clean finish.
