Project Brief

Client: Cromwell Hospital
Location: London
Sector: Healthcare

Cromwell Hospital required a modern aesthetic and functional upgrade to their side entrance.  This transformation turned a dated, industrial-style hospital entrance into a modern, high-end portal.

Since this was a live hospital environment, the focus was on high performance materials and an out of hours schedule to ensure zero disruption to weekday operations. The outcome was a sleek, contemporary entrance that aligns with the hospital’s professional standards.

5 Key Steps in the Design Process

01

Planning & Coordination

The project required careful planning due to the hospital environment. A detailed schedule of works was developed, programmed across several weekends to minimise disruption. Ongoing coordination ensured safe working practices and clear communication throughout.

02

Strip-Out & Structural Preparation

Existing lighting, doors, ceiling elements, and panels were removed to prepare the entrance area for refurbishment.

03

Doors, Partitions & Wall Features

New fire-rated door sets were installed, along with updated ironmongery. New wall panelling was installed to enhance the visual quality of the entrance space.

Commercial Entrance Refits like this need careful planning, especially in a hospital environment where disruption to day-to-day working must be minimised. We achieved what was required by careful planning and coordinating the various trades needed on the site to achieve the desired expectations.

05

Finishing & Completion

Final works included painting existing elements such as steel doors and external grills, installing new skirting details, and completing the entrance finishes. All work areas were cleaned and handed back ready for use at the start of the following working week.

04

Ceiling & Lighting Upgrades

The ceiling system was rebuilt to incorporate timber effect planks. Circular LED panels and emergency lighting were installed within the new design, along with PIR sensors to provide efficient, automatic lighting control.
