The client wanted a balance of comfort and durability, achieved using soft, high-quality carpet and classic herringbone LVT, creating a welcoming and practical home environment.

5 Key Steps in the Design Process

Planning & Preparation

The Head’s House at St Catherine’s School required a complete flooring upgrade across its principal living spaces, circulation areas, and bedrooms. The client wanted a balance of comfort and durability, achieved using soft, high-quality carpet and classic herringbone LVT, creating a welcoming and practical home environment.

Subfloor Works

6mm ply boarding was laid in hard floor areas, providing a smooth, level surface for the new LVT installation.

Carpet Installation

Victoria Heartland carpet in Kempsey laid over Cloud 9 8mm underlay, was supplied and fitted in the Sitting Room, Dining Room, Family Room, all bedrooms (including dressing area to the Principal Bedroom), and on the Stairs and Landing.

This well-planned project covering not just carpet and LVT, but subfloor work too, achieved a stylish and practical finish with minimal disruption to the staff routines.

Completion & Handover

All works were carried out during normal working hours, with careful coordination to minimise disruption. The project was completed on schedule, leaving the property refreshed, stylish, and ready for use.

LVT Installation

Tromso Herringbone LVT tiles were laid in a single herringbone pattern across the Kitchen, Hallway, and Side Lobby, providing a timeless, elegant finish.

What we did

  • Removed and cleared all existing flooring to on-site skips

  • Prepared hard floor areas with 6mm ply subflooring

  • Stored materials on site ahead of installation for smooth delivery

  • Installed Cloud 9 Contract 8mm underlay

  • Supplied and laid 5m-wide Victoria Heartland carpet in Kempsey

  • Carpet fitted in Sitting Room, Dining Room, Family Room, Stairs/Landing, and all bedrooms including dressing area

  • Supplied and laid Tromso Herringbone LVT in Kitchen, Hallway, and Side Lobby

  • Coordinated all works during normal working hours

  • Completed project on time, achieving a high-quality, durable finish
